Security • up to RC 2
Home security up to class RC 2
Most break-ins through windows and balcony doors use simple tools — a screwdriver or a lever. The right hardware, steel reinforcement and laminated glass make such an attempt take far too long.
- Mushroom cams
- Steel security keeps
- Lockable handles
- P4A laminated glass

Resistance classes
What do RC 1N and RC 2 mean?
The EN 1627 standard classifies windows and doors by how long and against which tools they resist a break-in attempt. RC 2 is the usual recommendation for houses and ground-floor flats.
| RC 1N | RC 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical intruder | Opportunistic, no tools | Opportunistic, simple tools |
| Attack | Physical force: kicking, pushing, lifting the sash | Screwdriver, pliers, wedges — plus physical force |
| Resistance in testing | Basic protection, no tool test | About 3 minutes of tool work |
| Glass | Standard glass | P4A laminated safety glass |
| Handle | Standard | Lockable or push-button |
| Recommended for | Upper floors without easy access | Ground floor, balconies, rear of the house |
There is also RC 2N — RC 2 hardware without special glass. We agree the right class for your building when we measure.

Hardware
What is hidden in the sash edge
We fit German Winkhaus hardware. Mushroom cams around the whole sash lock into steel keeps on the frame, so the sash cannot be levered off, even when the attack targets a single corner. The same hardware also provides micro-ventilation — the sash stays open a few millimetres while the window remains locked.
Mushroom cams
Winkhaus cams with a wide head hook behind the keeps — the sash cannot be levered away from the frame.
Steel keeps
Keeps are screwed into the steel reinforcement of the profile, not just into PVC.
Anti-drill protection
A hardened plate protects the gear behind the handle from being drilled through.
Lockable handle
The handle cannot be turned from outside or through broken glass; it also keeps children safe.

Glass
Laminated safety glass (VSG)
VSG consists of two or more panes bonded with a tough PVB interlayer. When broken, the fragments stick to the interlayer and the pane stays in the frame — an opening big enough to climb through does not form easily.
- Class P4A (EN 356): withstands three impacts of a 4.1 kg steel ball dropped from 9 m
- Protects against injury from shards
- The interlayer blocks most UV radiation
- With an acoustic interlayer it also reduces noise
Toughened glass is stronger than normal glass and breaks into small blunt pieces — it protects against injury, not against burglary. Burglar resistance needs laminated glass.
